Recently I was sent this amazing candle by the company “Just Bee”, a new beeswax candle company in Somerset. I’m really pleased by this company on all accounts, the daughter (Harriet) makes candles out of beeswax left behind by the father’s bees from his honey making company. It really is a full use company! The candle arrived safely tucked into this beautiful golden and white casing with the logo of a bee and JB for Just Bee.
This is the candle itself, one of the great things about beeswax is that it’s a slow burn. We have been burning it almost every night for over a week (for hours) and barely made a dent in the candle – obviously never forget that beeswax burns hotter than traditional candle wax so ensure not to burn yourself! One of my ultimate favourite things about these candles is that the scents are formed naturally using the Somerset countryside (and the beeswax of course!). I am incredibly scent sensitive, it’s one of my biggest migraine triggers and I expressed this to Harriet when she was asking me to give these candles a try and she actually is in the same boat (although she’s pregnant and so scent is a new trigger!) but she understood my reluctance to try a scented candle.
I can thankfully say that this candle smells wonderful, like honey and the faint smell of citrus and nature and it has been a pleasure to burn. I’m grateful there is so much left so we can keep burning it in the evenings to make our nights more pleasant.
Now…my guy considers himself a bit of a honey connoisseur and this set honey has been declared to be some of the best he’s ever tried. I’m nowhere near as varied in my honey tastes, I mostly just buy it and eat it (I’m still broadening my honey horizons!) but I can say this tastes fantastic and comes highly recommended from us both. When you buy a candle I’d definitely hunt down some honey as well from her father’s company. Both are exquisite in preparation and quality.
