Burt’s Bees Exfoliating Shower Wash – I want to love you but you smell so bad

burts bees exfoliating body washNow, that might seem like a bit of a harsh title but it’s SO TRUE. I received this along with a few other Burt’s Bees products from an acquaintance for my birthday in September (I know, it takes me ages to get around to using things but to be fair…I don’t go through body wash that quickly and I don’t rotate. I just use one until it’s gone). I thought it would be lovely, I’ve never been let down by a Burt’s Bees product in the past, I’m particularly fond of their honey chapstick! So when I finally ran out of the Dead Sea Spa body wash (at last! That stuff lasted forever!) not only did I not have to buy new anything but I already had a bottle at home of new body wash that I’d been waiting to use since September.

This is where we come to the smell part. I thought it would smell nice (even though for the life of me I can’t tell you what royal jelly smells like) and instead of smelled like hair dye. I asked 3 different people to smell it not telling them I thought it smelled funny, I just asked them to smell it and give me their opinion and all 3 said it smelled of hair dye or chemicals. I don’t know about you but those aren’t the scents I typically associate with Burt’s Bees products. Really I don’t want to be smelling chemicals with anything (except maybe hair dye!), especially something going onto my body!!! Needless to say I’m swapping to another body wash ASAP. I looked up this product and the word smell and it seems I’m not the only one with this issue so I don’t feel bad writing this here!
