My Top 2 Vegan Lip Balms (available internationally)

I teased awhile back at finding some great vegan lip balms and promised not to hold out, so I am delivering as promised! The reason I love vegan products has nothing to do with being vegan (because I’m not!) but it is always cruelty free (something I hold dear in cosmetics) and often contains raw ingredients. The raw part is most important truthfully. If you don’t cook or transform the ingredients used in cosmetics (usually) they end up maintaining more of their health benefits and you end up reaping the rewards. Cold-pressing raw ingredients means they are super healthy and you get more from it than if it had gone through a bunch of test tubes (this is obviously not true for scientific ingredients…but for ones that come from the Earth? Definitely true!)

Hurraw was my first Vegan lipbalm (well, my first intentional vegan lipbalm) and man what a score. Hurraw is everything that is right with the lipbalm world. It’s incredibly affordable ($3.79 unless you are buying the night balm or the SPF balm/£3.45 [£4 for night or SPF]) and also available internationally, their distributor list is gigantic. I also love that if you cold press a flavour…you get the real flavour and not an artificial one. My personal favourites are the black cherry (it gives my lips the faintest flush and smells like real cherries) and the moon (night time) balm. It actually lasts all night! I have tried the coffee and it didn’t suit me, I am desperate to try the chai, the vanilla and possibly the root beer. I’m just a huge fan. It’s a great balm, it glides on and isn’t sticky, it isn’t a gloss at all but still makes your lips look nice, it has great holding power (as in holding together in the container) because I’ve accidentally slept with mine in bed with the electric blanket on and it didn’t melt into a lip balm ocean.

I will say I wish it stayed on longer…but I always wish that? I feel it stays on an average hour or two, if I want a good six hours balm in the daytime I can always put the moon (night) balm on and have the lasting power I’m seeking. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I actually found my Hurraw on eBay UK before I knew I could purchase it at

Here are the ingredients for the Moon balm I keep praising:

Ingredients: Persea gratissima (avocado) oil, *Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, ***Euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, **Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, **Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, *Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, *Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, *Argania spinosa (argan) kernel oil, *Rosa rubiginosa (rosehip) seed oil, *Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, Tocopherols (vitamin e), **Vanilla planifolia (vanilla) bean, ***Myroxylon balsamum (peru balsam) oil, Matricaria recutita (blue chamomile) flower extract

*cold pressed / organic **raw & organic ***wildcrafted

La Bella Figura is a small (but I believe more well known) company, like Hurraw although famous for their under-eye serum and not their lip balm. I have heard great things about said eye serum but seeing as how it is over $100 and their lip balm is $10…I went with the lip balm! Oops! This has honey, it’s not vegan, I lied! I’m sorry!

This lip balm is magic in a glass tub. Seriously I don’t think I’ve ever put something so nice on my lips and for only $10! I’m in awe. I just want to hug it. I went to the grocery store and left my handbag at home and just took my travelcard for the London Underground, my bank card (to pay for the groceries, obviously!) and this lip balm because I didn’t want to part with it! I picked my miracle up from Mise Beauty (who I’m not sure is the best etailer….or even a halfway decent one, I’ve had problems left right and centre!!!) for £10. Yes, £10. You read that correctly. An item that costs $10 also costs £10. I couldn’t get it otherwise so I had to swallow my anger at a direct dollars to pounds conversion and pay the price in order to get an item I so desperately wanted to try, it was worth it but I will definitely try to ask a US friend if they will be kind enough to allow me to ship to their home and pay to ship to the UK. Last time I checked

10 US dollars = 6.2201 British pounds sterling

So paying £10 for a $10 doesn’t make me the happiest customer……and my one complaint with this balm is that it sinks in beautifully and turns your lips into a baby butt and then it disappears and your lips are soft and lovely…but I need more! More moisture and more lasting product! I guess I just want the world :D. I want 12 hour lip balms without chemicals? I am not sure such things are possible!!

Here are the ingredients to the best lipbalm ever (despite the cost!):

Ingredients: Organic Argan (Argania Spinosa) Kernel Oil,  Organic Tamanu (Calophyllum Inophyllum) Oil, Organic Pumpkin (Cucurbita Pepo) Seed Oil, Organic Olive (Olea Europaea) Oil, Organic Clover Honey, Organic Beeswax (Cera Alba), Organic Mangifera Indica (Mango Seed Butter), Organic Shea Butter (Butryrosperum Parkii), Organic Orange (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis) Oil, Tangerine (Citrus Riticulata) Oil, Wild-crafted Vanilla (Vanilla Planifolia) oil, Organic Ginger (Zingibar Officinale) oil.
